Setting Up Your Home Workout Space
Pilates can be done anywhere.
Are you interested in online support? Virtual lessons are a great choice if you have your Pilates equipment or want some guidance in setting up a home program. Lessons can be scheduled on a regular basis or designed as a combination of live and curated sessions that you can do on your own.
Suggested Props for your Home practice
To keep you challenged and enjoying your @Home session, there are many props that we can use to keep you connected to your Pilates practice. I will begin with some basic tools, then some other tools you may already have as well as substitutes you may have around the house. Some of the tools you can purchase from us directly. I will also include Amazon links or brands I prefer.
To get started, we advise you to look for items at home that can be used as a substitute. Some of these items would be a belt or robe tie for a strap, water bottles, or food cans for weights. A tennis ball and broccoli bands are also items that you may have around the house. Creativity adds to the fun!

Best Practices For Virtual sessions.
- You will need good-quality wifi of course.
- Install the ZOOM application on your Apple or Windows device or your phone/tablet.
- Use a laptop, if possible, and position it higher than you. A cell phone or tablet works too, though it can be harder to position, and harder to see the screen. If you are going to be using your phone, I recommend purchasing an inexpensive tripod. It will allow more flow in your sessions when you can easily reposition the phone.
- Wear clothing that contrasts with the surface that you are lying on.
- Carpets, yoga mats, and rugs are all great surfaces for practicing Pilates.
- Set yourself up so that the light source is coming from in front of you, not behind you.
- Square your mat to the room, not the camera. This will give me the best possible view.
